Rachel Alexandra has arrived at Belmont Park for the 53rd running of the Grade 1 Mother Goose. The nine furlong event for three-year-old fillies will be run on Saturday, June 27th. Don’t Forget Gil, Flashing, and Malibu Prayer are also expected.
Ashland (G1) winner Hooh Why heads a field of eight in Friday night’s Iowa Oaks (G3). Steve Asmussen’s Hightap, last seen winning the Dogwood at Churchill, has also been entered, along with Sweet Relish, Don’ttalktome, and Peach Brew.
Terrain is the one to beat in the Iowa Derby (G3), but keep an eye on Lone Star Derby runner-up Red Lead, who is pointing to the 0k Super Derby (G2) later this summer. Uno Mas and Soul Warrior will represent the Asmussen barn.

Last year’s Super Derby winner My Pal Charlie tries to get back on the beam in Saturday’s Cornhusker (G2) at Prairie Meadows. His main competition should come from Lone Star Handicap (G3) runner-up Jonesboro.
Zenyatta will tote 129 pounds as she attempts to keep her unblemished record intact in the Grade 1 Vanity on Saturday. Her stablemate Life Is Sweet will likely skip the Vanity and take a shot against males in the Hollywood Gold Cup (G1) on July 11th.
