An 8-race card is on tap at Santa Anita on Jan 13th. The last post from the Great Race Place had me alive in the WinVivor and ShowVivor contests. I made it to the final 24 in the former before landing the place (Chicago Gal) and getting the boot. That contest ended one day later after the remaining seven players failed to pick a winner, and they split the ,500 prize. Also out of the ShowVivor after BC Dirt Mile hero Furthest Land ran last in the San Pasqual on Saturday.



Now let’s get back to the future. The Town Lady is worth a look in the opener. Barry Abrams excels with horses wheeling back quickly, and this one also returns to a preferred synthetic route.

The 2nd race is a maiden claiming route for fillies and mares. Lucy Got Lucky looks solid after landing the place in her first start for Julio Canani last time. She’s training well for this.

The 3rd race kicks off the pick six, and I have all of the action covered (free analysis and tickets) on the pick six blog site. Recess is an obvious threat for Tyler Baze and Doug O’Neill.

The 4th race is a flat mile turf affair, and this one is my Horse Racing Nation free selection of the day.

The 5th race is my MySpace free selection of the day.

Back to the turf for the 6th race, and this one might boil down to Lady Alex and Samantha’s Rule.

The 7th race is an optional claiming sprint, and Bob Baffert has the one to beat with Total Bull. The 5yo horse looked good in local winning bow on Nov 1st..

Finale is also a flat mile turf affair, and Barry Abrams trainee Unknown Heat looms the target.
